Daily brief

Latest

All percentages are versus a typical video, unless the text says otherwise.

Every upload, graded

Each upload since Oct 5 gets one of two grades. Keep making this means the topic and format earned it. Shouldn't have released this means it cost us more than it earned.

Views in the first day

Views each upload had about 24 hours after it went live (logged between hours 23 and 30). The dashed line is the typical long-form first day.

Subscribers and comment score, per video

Subscribers gained and lost per video come from YouTube Studio, last 28 days. The comment score is the tone of each video's top comments (up to 100, weighted by likes). Subscribers per 1,000 views uses the same 28-day Studio views.

Subscribers gained and lost, per video

Green is gained, red is lost, for our tracked uploads that appear in the Studio export.

Top videos by net subscribers

Best 8 of every video in the Studio export, tracked or not.

Lowest net subscribers, among our tracked uploads

Comment score by video

Share of top comments that are positive, neutral or negative, weighted by comment likes. This reads the tone of what people write, not whether they agree with the video: an angry comment about the news counts as negative.

"Typical" is the median long-form video (about lifetime views). Only uploads at least 4 days old are counted in the percentage.

Best and worst lanes
